We are so thrilled to announce we have raised £3,000 for our chosen charities in 2020, The Trussell Trust and Derek’s Tree.
National food-bank – The Trussell Trust, between April and September 2020, provided over 1 million emergency food parcels – nearly half a million of those going to children. Burton upon Trent based Derek’s Tree collect presents for local organisations such as Barnado’s and Homestart, who gift them to disadvantaged children in the local community.
Although the pandemic got in the way of our ambitious fundraising and volunteering plans, we were still able to raise £2,500 for The Trussell Trust in addition to volunteering 20 hours at our local food-bank based in Arnold, Nottingham.
In a matter of days of working with Derek’s Tree, we had raised almost £500 worth of gifts and donated them to the local charity, giving 47 children a gift to open on Christmas day.
Our fundraising initiatives consisted of virtual quizzes, sponsored bike rides and 50/50 draws. The team pulled together to support some very worthy causes. Despite the challenges that 2020 held, we still managed to raise a considerable amount for both charities.
Over the years, we have supported many charities: The Little Princess Trust, Mind, Nottingham Children’s Hospital and The Alzheimer’s Society. After an employee vote, we have decided on our 2021 charity of the year – The Silver Line, the only free confidential helpline providing information, friendship and advice to older people, open 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
